Mulled Wine Spices
Not sure how to make Mulled Wine?
This spice mix is the easiest and tastiest way to look like you know what you are doing.
The key is to boil the spices first in some water or red wine (see brewing instructions). This step extracts the flavours from the spices without over boiling the entire bottle of red wine.
We also recommend to add some sugar in the beginning and reduce the spice-sugar mixture to a slightly thickened syrup (caramelising the sugar).
You can add lemons, oranges and even a bay leaf to enhance the flavour.
However, the best flavour enhancer is Rum. A double measure added at the end will propel your mulled wine experience to new heights.
With cardamom, star anise, orange peel, cloves, lemon peel and cinnamon.
100g (default), also available in 250g or in our wooden tea chest. Please select below.
|Ingredients||Take about 4 tablespoons spices and boil them in a cup of water or red wine for 10 minutes. Add the sugar and reduce the mixture to a syrupy consistency.|
|Ingredients Line 2||Add 1 bottle of red wine, lemon or oranges slices, a bay leaf and heat it very slowly. Turn it off just before the boil. Do not boil since this will evaporate the alcohol and the blend might turn bitter. If required adjust the sugar content.|
|Ingredients Line 3||A glass of rum added at the end will do wonders.|
