Darjeeling Margaret's Hope First Flush
One of the oldest Tea Gardens in Darjeeling (est. 1865) with a moving past. In the 1930s the English owner had two daughters who spent their summer on the estate. Especially the younger daughter, Margaret, fell in love with the charming beauty of the rolling hills and the distant peaks of the Himalaya. She promised to be back but on the journey home she got ill and died tragically before the ship reached England. In her loving memory, the heartbroken father renamed the estate into Margaret's Hope.
Today the Tea Garden is one of the top producers in Darjeeling and renowned for their quality. The mainly China tea bushes grow between 915m and 1830m. Our First Flush was picked and processed in March which resulted in a light, flowery, slightly astringent and sweet flavour, typical for the early spring harvest.
This delicate tea is ideal for the afternoon with light pastries or cake (and your very best China), to impress the nosy friend or just on its own.
